At Zealive Institute of New Zealand, we are dedicated to ensuring the welfare of our international students by adhering to the Ministry of Education Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. We take all reasonable measures to monitor student attendance and academic progress to support their well-being.
We recognise that welfare concerns may arise from various indicators, including:
All staff members at Zealive Institute are committed to fostering a supportive environment and are responsible for reporting any welfare concerns to the Director to ensure timely and effective assistance for our students.
Tutors are responsible for reporting any student’s absence immediately to the Administrator who will contact the student if the absence has not been reported by the student.
The Administrator will arrange for any action required to address the reasons for a student’s absence.
Interventions may include:
If the student has not attended for one day and no contact has been received the Tutor/Administration will attempt to make contact with the student to determine the reason for non-attendance. This can be made by phone, email or text.
Should a student not be in contact with the school for two days in a row then the Next of kin or contact person (e.g. the student’s agent) will be contacted.
The institute acknowledges the confidentiality of information requirements embodied in the Privacy Act and stipulates in all employment contracts that staff abide by these.
As part of the institute enrolment form, students are requested to sign a consent clause giving their permission for the institute to pass on academic results and contact details to NZQA and other relevant agencies.
Physical, mental, and emotional protection for students and the public is ensured through clear identification by Tutors of any potentially hazardous activities undertaken by students as part of the training.
Adherence to the relevant occupational health and safety guide minimises any potential harm.

You’ll need somewhere to live while you study, and there are plenty of options available. From apartments in the city to homestays in the countryside, you’ll find something that suits you and your lifestyle.
With a homestay, you live with a New Zealand family in their home, usually in a fully furnished room of your own. They’ll provide you with meals and help you to settle into day-to-day life in New Zealand.
A homestay is a great way to get to know some friendly New Zealanders, develop your English skills, and get a close-up look at New Zealand’s way of life and culture.
Homestay accommodations are located in safe, residential areas, and we carefully select families who align with our high standards for hospitality and care.
Flats range from one-bedroom apartments to four- or five-bedroom homes and can be found just about anywhere – close to cities and campuses or further out in the surrounding suburbs, where you’re more likely to find gardens and car-parking space.
Most flats include basic equipment such as an oven, dishwasher, washing machine, and clothes dryer. You and your flatmates will share the cost of rent and usually the phone and energy bills.
Zealive Institute aims to foster a respectful and inclusive learning environment. To achieve this, the institute has established its Student Rules and Discipline policy and encourages all students to adhere to these guidelines.
